Meaning Matters?!
So does meaning matter?...or does meaning matter! My summer teaching series will be from "Ecclesiastes"; a book written by "wise" king Solomon describing his journey to find meaning in life. Bring your Bible and be ready to discuss, debate and hear from each other. Chew on these statements from chapter 1: "What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted." and "The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase in knowledge only increases sorrow."
Join us on Monday, May 12 for Summer Contact and our first "Meaning Matters?!" study. Come at 7:30 to try out our outdoor beach volleyball court. We put on a fresh load of sand last year and the court is still in good condition. If v-ball is not your scene, then meet in the lounge at 8:00 for "floats" and then we will get our group time underway by 8:08...or so! We will see the pictures from last weeks Photo-Scavenger Hunt and award prizes for our winning teams.

Summer Contact '08
It may not feel like it, but spring is here and so is our summer schedule. Don't forget that we will not meet on Monday, April 28. Monday, May 5 - Photo Scavenger Hunt. Meet at the church at 7:30pm, where we will be put in to "car teams", given a camera, and then travel the city looking for interesting photo-ops. We will need drivers, digital cameras (if you are able to) and please bring $5 to give to your driver for gas. We will all meet back at the church for food, snacks and our own awards ceremony. From May thru August, we will meet every Monday (except the long weekends) alternating between social activities and Bible studies.
I want to pass on the verse that I shared with the group last Monday night. Psalm 32:8 The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." No matter where your journey takes you this summer, or even as you look to next fall...take this promise right into your spirit. God does not have a second best for you, so keep your eyes on Jesus!

Freedom!!
So what does freedom look like for you? End of school? Summer plans? Living away from home? I'm sure you would all give unique answers. I recently received forgiveness from a broken relationship that happened 8 years ago. This has given me an inner freedom and joy that I can barely express! If you are interested in hearing more, I am sharing this story as part of my sermon this week (Sunday, April 6). Freedom from structures and routines can be great, but inner freedom is just awesome!
Young Adults is happening this Monday, April 7. "Coffee Connection" & Open Gym starts at 7:30pm and "Contact" @8:08pm. Derek will lead worship and Don is brewing up some heresies for you to refute...so don't forget your Bibles. Since Derek (my intern this year) has not spoken yet, his time has come! Bring your best "heckling" skills and be there next Monday (April 14). He thinks he is safe because many of you will be gone studying...so, find a way to get here. Prayers & Blessings to all of you studying!

Spring into Contact
Ok...a rather cheesy title! I am both excited about spring and a little sad that the end of semester 2 is nearly upon us. I know most of you students are celebrating and so looking forward to being done...I'm just feeling like the year went by so fast. Counting tonight, we have only 4 "Contacts" left. Yes...C&C will continue all spring and summer, but we will miss many of you who leave us! So...come out as much as possible in the coming weeks and let us know what you are doing this summer and how we can pray for you. Tonight (March 31) "Coffee Connection" & Open Gym begins at 7:30pm and "Contact" starts at 8:08pm. Phil & band will lead worship and Pastor Don our discussion/teaching time. Hope to see you all there!

St. Patty's Party
Monday is St. Patrick's Day, so come party with us! Our Coffee House begins at 7:30pm on Monday, March 17. Our guest band is "The Blend"...featuring the vocals and guitar playing of Mike Morson, with bassist Nick Dueck and drummer Scott Neufeld. The band will play 3 half-hour sets beginning at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00pm. We are having an appetizer/dessert bar, so please bring one appetizer or dessert for group sharing. Inviting friends or coming for the first time? You are our guest, so just show up and enjoy! Our leadership team is supplying green drinks and extra food so there should be lots. Wear green and bring your best Irish accent! Don't forget to bring some card/table games too.

Women's Night Out
This Thursday (March 13 @7:30pm) is an event for C&C women only! We are talking "chocolate fondue" and time to just relax, hang out and get to know each other. The guys had a bonding time on the Ski trip, so now its the girls turn! The party is hosted by the female's on our leadership team (Amanda, Heather, Linda, Vi, & Una) and will be at Una's house (347 Keeley Cr.). Keeley Cr. is off Stillwater Dr. in Lakeview...call Una @477-2730 if you need directions. If you are able to bring some fruit (or other creative items) to dip in the chocolate fountain, that would be great. All girls who are connected to our C&C group (even if you feel new or haven't come in awhile) are invited!!
A Night of Worship...Thursday, March 20 @7:30pm. All youth and young adults are invited to join together. This event comes from prayer, passion and a desire to release the younger generations in freedom & unity! Kevin Wiens (youth pastor), Mike Morson (youth intern), Don Froese (C&C pastor) and Derek Funk (C&C intern) have been praying and dreaming together...we believe that now is the time.
